Irena Josifoska was born 1996. into a family of musicians. She started playing the cello at the age of 5 in the music school “Isidor Bajic”, in Novi Sad, in the class of her mother, Judit Niederholzer-Josifoska. At the moment, she attends Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, in the class of Marko Miletic.
Irena won around 45 highest awards in national and international competitions, like: “Dotzauer cello competition”, Germany, “Herann”, Czech republic, international cello competition in Liezen, Austria, “Petar Konjovic”, “Belgrade stage of young talents”, Republican competition of music and ballet schools in Serbia etc. In 2015, as the youngest contestant, she was the finalist of “Jeunesses musicales” big international competition in Belgrade and won “The audience prize”, bow made by Vladimir Radosavljevic and several special prizes.
Irena is a recipient of several recognitions, like: “Provincial award”, award “Golden bell”, “St. Sava award” as the highest recognition being given by the Serbian Ministry of education, the award “Stanojlo Rajicic” for the most successful concert of the season 2009/2010 held in Gallery “SANU” in Belgrade, Art-link award “The most promising young music artist in 2013”, the main prize of the club “SUPERSTE”-Erste bank
Irena has been awarded several times for the achieved results by “Fund for young talents of republic of Serbia”.
Out of around 500 public performances(in England, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Hungaria, Romania, Croatia, BIH etc.) , around 70 of which have been recitals and solo performances accompanied by eminent orchestras, like: “Vojvodina Symphony orchestra”, “Symphony orchestra of RTS”, Orchestra “Dusan Skovran”, “European CEI youth orchestra”, “Novi Sad chamber orchestra”, “Subotica Philharmonic orchestra”, “Banja Luka Philharmonic Orchestra”, „Norfolk County Youth Orchestra“(West road concert hall,Cambridge,England), “Zrenjanin chamber orchestra” etc.
Irena was participant of several festivals and projects, like: “ Moritzburg Festival Academy”, in Germany, where she, with her quartet, won 1st prize of audience at the final concert, “Cello Fest”, “Ljubljana Festival”, “Music Forum” in Trenta, Slovenia held by professors from Vienna University, who play in Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, “The first Balkan music festival in Tivat”, “Triorca”, “A-fest”, “Chopin fest”, “EPTA” etc.
In April of 2014 “A-records” (Sweden) has issued Irena’s first CD and in September of 2014 “Art-link” and “Societe generale bank” has issued Irena’s second CD(live from the concert).
Irena attended master classes with famous cellists and professors, like: Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (Ger.), Marc Coppey (Fra.), Mineo Hayashi (Jap.), Istvan Varga (Hun.), Xenia Jankovic (Ger.), Stefan Popov (Engl.), Alexander Kniazev (Rus.), David Starkwether (USA), Mark Kosower (USA), Daniel Müller Schott (Ger.), Laszlo Mezö (Hun.), Leonid Gorohov (Ger.), Vendi Warner (USA), Robert Nagy (Aus.), Jan Vogler (Ger/USA), Aleksei Kiseliov (BLR) …
Composers Tibor Hartig, Dejan Despic, Svetozar Sasa Kovacevic and Aleksandar Vujic dedicated their compositions to Irena.
